San Antonio, TX

I'm considering a foot specialist bc having issues. Are heel spurs scraped off or is it better to leave them alone?

If you're experiencing heel pain and suspect it might be a heel spur, it's important to consider the possibility of enthesitis, especially if you have rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Enthesitis is inflammation of the entheses, the sites where tendons and ligaments attach to bone, which can cause significant pain, including in the heel area. This condition is common in individuals with RA and can manifest as heel pain. Proper diagnosis and treatment are crucial for managing the pain and preventing further joint damage. Consulting with a healthcare provider, who may use imaging technology for diagnosis, is a recommended step. Additionally, managing RA effectively and employing strategies like wearing proper footwear, resting, and possibly medication, can help alleviate the symptoms.

I would see a Dr. I used to get shots in mine. There are things you can put in your shoes to cushion it. Try going to the drug store if you can't get into a Podiatrist right away. Good luck Jayne Bradley.😃

Jayne, I would go to a foot doctor. Is it called a podiatrist. My daughter had the best from the time she was 12.

I recommend going to an orthopedic foot doctor versus a podiatrist. In my experience, both podiatrists have always recommended foot surgery whereas the orthopedic foot doctor told me that if he were to do surgery, it would just be coming back. So the best way to treat it is to wear good shoes and good orthotics.
