I had reconstruction surgery after breast cancer surgery 10 years ago. 1 to 2 years later I started having symptoms of RA. Anyone else develop RA after breast enhancement or reconstruction surgery?

It wouldn't surprise me--it's a foreign object that your body may attack. Maybe they are also like amalgam fillings--leeching toxins into your body. That was one reason why I refused to have any joint replacements--foreign objects to attack. My body attacked a temporary crown and totally dissolved the adhesive that was used--my dentist had never seen that happen before. Now I have a metal plate and screws in my right leg...

The article, which is on CNN's website, states:
We've also heard from patients who are concerned that their implants may be connected to other health conditions that could be associated with their immune system's response to these devices, resulting in symptoms like chronic fatigue, cognitive issues and muscle pain," FDA commissioner Dr. Scott Gottlieb and Dr. Jeff Shuren, director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health, said in a FDA statement earlier this month.
After reading this I googled it and there are various articles that state researchers are thinking the autoimmune system goes after the implants because they are foreign substances. Which makes the autoimmune system go into hyperdrive because it cannot get rid of the implants. Which can cause RA, Lupus and fibromyalgia among other diseases.

It quite possible that is caused the RA symptoms. My RA symptom started immediately after having a hysterectomy. I think any I'm balance or any shock to he body can cause the symptoms. I've been on this site for a few years & have read hundreds of bios & it's amazing how many people have said their symptoms started during or after pregnancy or childbirth, menopause, surgery or some type of accident. Few men have RA but seems like the ones who do, their symptoms began after a car accident or surgery.

I don’t really know but I do have concerns. My daughter was a size 0 after her husband died. She had always been a size 4 but grief caused her to lose weight. She had implants put in to make her feel better because she’d always been so tiny. Now those implants look strange. They a mis-shaped and look low. She suffers with a lot of pain and is getting nodules on her fingers and toes. I’m afraid she has gotten a autoimmune disease from the implants. After all they are a foreign object.
