Who Has A Cardiologist Because Of Hereditary High Cholesterol?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Utah

I asked my PCP for a referral to a cardiologist because of the problems with the statins and my cholesterol is so high. And the low heart bradycardia) rate has became an issue when I'm sick

I have the joy of having a sweet husband with high cholesterol. He was on the wrong statin and it didn't control the buildup of plaque in his heart and surrounding vessels. He had grown extra veins around one blockage and ended with a stent and was put on one of the two statins that carry away plaque. He has inherited high cholesterol of the bad kind from his mom and super low good cholesterol from his dad. My internal medicine doctor has had me on the right kind of statins since I started seeing him. So about 12 or 13 years. He told me it is a well known fact that people with RA make a lot of cholesterol. Husbands brother has the same problem, but didn't eat as reserved as we have. He had a bad heart attack several years ago when he was 50. He went to Cleveland Clinic to have it rebuilt. It was very invasive, but he is doing okay and now takes a statin and gets as much exercise as he can tolerate. I have all those conducting problems with my heart but with very little plaque I don't have to do much except stay on rosvastatin and see him or the PA every six months. I can easily do that. Right now, I need to get new trainers and start walking. Perhaps, we will get a dog and I can walk with it or them.

I see a cardiologist because of history with CHF and I needed one to clear me for surgery when I got my kidney transplant. I think it's good to see one from time to time.

I have a cardiologist. My family has a history heart disease. I have high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetic. Although all of these are controlled with medicine, it is wise to be checked periodically by your heart doctor.

I asked my orthopedic surgeon about seeing a heart dr because CHF is very evident in my family. He said I'm fine for right now and that's why he's pushing me off the pred. There are still some good drs out there.

Just for info, if you take a statin you should also take a CoQ10 supplement. Statins reduce the bodies ability to make it's own COQ10 and without that you can have muscle pains and just feel awful.
