That sounds confusing to me.

There is too much I don't know about cancer and RA together. No one could give you advice on that except your specialists.

We all worry about our therapies and starting a new drug. If we don't treat the RA and just let it go, we definitely won't get better, bc it's progressive.... and it's part of us. The goal is to control it, to slow or stop the progression. The Cancer we have to prevent or obliterate. 2 different diseases and treatment goals.

I'm guessing that you might be taking methotrexate or some other ATNF or anti-cancer drug?

I'm on Orencia infusions. The nurses told me a lot of ppl are taking it now. It seems to have the least side effects for us. Safest choice with higher sucess rate, I think. I'm 3 months in so far. Gonna stay positive.

Bless you. Bless us all. Stay healthy and free of all illness and worries...

Switching treatments can be daunting, but it's important to focus on managing your rheumatoid arthritis effectively. Here are some key points about Orencia (Abatacept) to help you prepare:

- Administration: Orencia can be taken as a subcutaneous injection once a week or as an intravenous infusion. The infusion schedule is more frequent initially and then every four weeks.
- Common Side Effects: These include headache, respiratory tract infections, common cold, and nausea.
- Serious Side Effects: Rare but serious side effects include severe infections and allergic reactions. Contact your doctor if you develop signs of infection like fever, cough, flu-like symptoms, or red, painful skin.
- Cancer Risk: Orencia may slightly increase the risk of certain types of cancer. Given your history, this is something to discuss thoroughly with your doctor.

Always follow your doctor's instructions and report any unusual symptoms immediately.
