Yes, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can affect your stomach and cause gastrointestinal (GI) issues. Here are some key points from the knowledge base:

- Inflammation: Chronic inflammation from RA can target the digestive system, leading to GI issues such as stomach bloating, abdominal pain, and conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
- Medications: Drugs used to treat RA, such as NSAIDs, steroids, DMARDs, and biologics, can cause side effects like gastritis, ulcers, and other GI problems.
- Immune Response: A depressed immune response from RA can contribute to GI issues, including infections and bowel inflammation.
- Coexisting Conditions: Conditions like fibromyalgia, which often occur with RA, can also lead to GI symptoms.

To manage these symptoms, it's important to work with your doctor to control your RA and review your medications regularly.

Hi Teresa … thank you! I was diagnosed 2 years ago and still learning about RA. I have had flares with my joints and experienced the pain and swelling but today I experienced mild stomach pain, constant burping that would not stop. I have had gas in the past but nothing like this. It was so uncomfortable.

Hi ColleenWalsh
Answer to your question is absolutely yes. I have a boul problem and GI problem. They say the last colonoscopy showed a small case of Colitus, he siad it might have gotten worse. I have no control, and it's so imbersing when you go shopping and all of a sudden without warning accident accured in my pants if you know what I mean. I'm waiting to get onther colonoscopy and a uper GI to see how my ulsirsare doing. I pray to God I don't have Colitus I don't think I could take onther autoimmune dieas. I was told that RA can make it hard on your body and organs. It messes with your lungs 🫁, stomach, intestine small and large, heart, kidneys. I just want to know how they will help me.
My warrior's my wish for you'll is to have a great evening without pain and sleep 😴 in a most comfortable way.
