Has Anyone Been Able To Cope With Their RA Without Medication?

A myRAteam Member asked a question πŸ’

I have RA which particularly affects my hips, my lower back and my ankles/feet. I am now starting to get more pain in the base of my thumbs where I have RA lumps. But I am not taking any medication from the doctor and just trying to get by on ginger shots with turmeric. Has anyone else got another method they use other than prescribed medication

The medication is used to prevent further joint damage and disease progression. RA also can attack your organs.
I know all of us would love not to take meds but I would rather take meds then end up in a wheelchair or poking up daisies. If I were you I would speak to your rheumatologist. 😊

I tried not taking my hydroxychloroquine for a time but after a while I noticed that my joints were hurting more. I started taking the medicine again and I started feeling better again. So far I do not have a lot of joint damage and by taking the meds I hope to keep it that way.

For instance, one person mentioned that despite following a vegan diet, they still required medication. It's important to note that RA cannot be cured, but it can enter remission with proper treatment, which often includes medication. Always consult with a doctor to determine the best treatment plan for your specific condition.
