Remission
I was informed by my Rheumatologist that some patients have fully recovered from RA, that it ran it's course and their blood draws showed no signs of RA. Has anyone ever heard of this? Has anyone had their toes dislocate from the swelling?
Thank you
Unfortunately autoimmune chronic disease is not like other diseases.
As you can see pretty clearly in the real life experiences of the wonderful people on this website platform that deal with its reality in a world where your immune system generates chronic disease.
DIS EASE
Caused by our own immune system which protects us from things like COVID-19.
Ironic isn’t it?
We pray for this disease to calm down to the point of total remission until the very last day of our lifes. Oh God please grant that prayer.
My mother had one minor flare, the knuckles in both hands swelled and were very inflamed. At the time she had a very high Rheumatoid Factor. She went into remission within 4 months with absolutely no damage and taking nothing but a few ibuprofen a day. She never had another flare but had a very high RF till the day she died. I am what they call Seronegative. I have never tested positive for the Rheumatoid Factor and I have had RA for thirty fracking years. I have a lot, a lot of damage to my hands and wrists. I have been on so many drugs I can’t remember half of them. But I am still Seronegative.
So your rheumatologist is trying to make you feel like there is hope or he really has no idea what he is talking about. So, people go into remission and stay there for 10-20-30 years or more maybe even the rest of their life. But No One is ever cured of RA. I went into remission when I got pregnant for my youngest son and stayed in it for 10 years. I knew I was not cured. I knew it would be back eventually but felt lucky for each day without it.
I did read somehwere that you have about as much chance as winning the lottery three times in a row as RA going away forever, for some it can go into remission for long periods, but never heard of anyone being cured 😞
Ok I concur with Giovanni who said that she was told by a doctor that the odds are very slim that are able go away forever it certainly been my case my experience of that I went to a hiatus of an 8-year period where my symptoms seem to disappear they came back
People can go into remission , I guess that's what they mean ? I know it's very possible
Have You Ever Been In Remission?
What Is Remission.
I Have A Silly Question..are There Any RA Conferences Anywhere Throughout The Year? Like A Get Together Kind Of Thing? I Know I Attended
