Hospitalized With Sepsis, Prone 3 Weeks, All Major Joints Super Painful.I Requested Prednisone 15 Mg Once Daily. Can I Request This In ICU?
Pneumonia causal for sepsis, many organs affected.
Doctors prescribed opioids for pain management, however I requested prednisone.
Was I wrong (pain abated with prednisone after 4 days)?
Hi yes I had sepsis last year. Scary! I've just started Actemra. Anything I should watch for other than what is written on the internet? I am 72 and a little Leary about starting this med. I read only Cleveland Clinic and Mayo Clinic for research medical questions but I thought a one on one would
answer my questions better.Thanks.
Yes, you can request prednisone in the ICU, especially if you're experiencing severe joint pain. It's important to discuss this with your healthcare team, as they will consider your current health status, the potential benefits, and the risks associated with prednisone use, particularly in the context of your sepsis Show Full Answer
I’ve been on Actemra for 6 months. It definitely affects your lungs. I have had bronchitis twice in 3 months and need an inhaler periodically. I wanted to get off of it but I have already been on 2 other biologics that didn’t work or I had a reaction to during the infusion and they had to stop it and give me antihistamines. She said I could try Orencia but if that doesn’t work I may have a problem going back to Actemra. The fact is I will have to wear a mask in indoor crowds and keep up with all vaccines. I’m not happy! I can’t take any of the JAC inhibitors because I am over 50 and it is dangerous for people of that age group. RA stinks and it really takes over your life!! Good luck.
I also was hospitalized with sepsis a few years back from a cut on my leg and I did receive prednisone to help with pain because I couldn’t take biologic actemra until infection was gone. It took about 3 months.
