I have RA with Sjogren's disease. It's hard to swallow breads & sandwiches. My dr. Said this is the Sjogren's! I have to drink with my food to make swallowing easier. Ask your Rheumatologist to check this.

I have had terrible sore throats after taking methrotrxate to the point of antitbiotics. lots of gargles with salt..tablespoons of honey . it disappears but does return on next dose. Some months it seems better.

Surprised there was no referral to ENT. I have not had severe swelling except for that time I had tonsilitis. But I the cause for my severe sore throat and difficulty swallowing has been a combination of post nasal drip and laryngopharyngeal reflux. Treatment with prescription flonase and dexilant has provided the best relief. OTC acid reflux meds will not work.

Is there an actual infection that supports the original antibiotic prescription?
