Have You Seen Lumps And Swelling Near The Elbow That Look Like This?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

This is my mom's left arm which has been bothering her more than usual for at least a month and a half. Please tell me if you have experienced this type of lumpy area near the elbow from R.A.?
Will send one more photo as could only attach one per entry.
Thanks y'all.

If you're noticing lumps and swelling near your elbow, it could be related to rheumatoid arthritis (RA), especially if the swelling is red, warm to the touch, and you're experiencing pain. RA is known for causing joint swelling, which is more common in RA than in osteoarthritis. The inflammation from RA can lead to symptoms like limited mobility, instability, and stiffness in the elbows, potentially causing the elbow to lock up or give out. If these symptoms sound familiar, it might be a good idea to consult a healthcare provider for a proper diagnosis and to discuss potential treatment options.

I have rheumatoid nodules in many places on my body. I've had surgery on my elbow and my fingers however nodules can return. I have problematic nodules on the bottom of my feet. Recently I have been using castor oil for compress with the bandage and as well massage I find this helps with pain as well as inflammation. I also have noticed my nodules have been drying up from the castor oil use . From this experience I would highly recommend use of castor oil externally for pain as well as inflammation and lumps and bumps.

Not specifically like your mom’s, but I have a lump jut above my right elbow. I wondered if it might be RA related or just a fluke. And now I have a “bulging” lump a couple inches above my knee. I’d really like an article about RA lumps!

Hello Faustina, it looks like a nodules/I have 1 in my thigh just like your mom. And also have 2 small nodules in my throat but they only hurt sometimes. In my throat my doctor did biopsy. My Dr stated that it was RA. Can you text her Dr to see what he thinks.
