Curious What Items Are More Helpful

What particular item or items do you find better for your needs and may I ask why, low pound (2 to 4 pound) hand weights or elastic bands available in variety pack to build (re-build) strength? I have already found a set of hand weights that will allow me to begin at 2 pounds then add on more weight for more exercise with the program I am following.

I will follow through with my nerve pain management specialist on both to obtain his thoughts which he feels is a better item to use since he and… read more

Both low-pound hand weights and elastic bands can be helpful for rebuilding strength, especially when managing conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. Hand weights are great for controlled strength-building, while elastic bands offer versatility and can target multiple muscle groups with varying resistance levels. Since you already have adjustable hand weights, they’re a solid start. However, elastic bands might be gentler on joints and provide more flexibility. Consulting your specialist is a wise step!

Sue definitely be careful on the size of weight you use. With the nerve issue. I would talk to your doctor first. I can barely lift 1 pound and that can even flare up those nerves. But mine are damaged. Everyone is different with this.

Have been speaking with my Mom who has RA as well. She went through PT as they were lowering her medication along with helping her due to a fall she had taken. At any rate, we got the talking about the weight and resistance band items I mentioned earlier.

Something that got me thinking was how she used them to exercise every week. I will bring up this up to the nerve management doctor when he and I meet once again in regard to our planning. What got my attention one day was the low weight being used then two days later the low resistance band was used. I actually liked the idea as it sounded like a wonderful plan for my lower back nerves.

I obviously won't move forward until getting the go ahead from the nerve specialist but this was such a breath of fresh air hearing how both low weight and low resistance band could be used together, that gave me hope for progress with not only helping rebuild my lower back nerves but also keep the RA in check.

I will surely keep everyone up to date on this one. ❤️
