RA And Tendon Pain
I am 51 yrs old and was diagnosed with RA in 2019 which answers a lot of questions with my joint pain over the years before. My question is…does anyone suffer from tendon pain also? I feel like some days all I have to do is lift something and I have “tennis elbow” 2 hours later it’s gone and then another tendon hurts, so on and so on. The pain sets me back from activities I love, yard work, walks, cycling. I’ll talk with my rheumatologist in August but I’m wondering if I just need to talk with… read more
100% yes. My onset was severe and not only hit my joints - but any tendon attachment area where I had some sort of physical impact (like lifting weights or a deep tissue massage). It was hitting my major joints AND muscle/tendon connectors.
I literally couldn't move. The tendon pain has thankfully stopped after starting MX, but it was super scary and hard to diagnose since it didn't 'sound' like RA (Rh told me he thought it was an infection and prescribed me meloxicam and told me to see my primary until my blood tests came back with super elevated RF and anticcp markers - then he was like "oh crap"). I try to differentiate between normal tendon pain and RA pain by additional symptoms. For me if its worse when I sleep (from like a 4 to an 8) then it's RA. RA pain is the only pain that escalates that bad at night for me.
I'm dealing with "tennis elbow" right now. I don't even know what I did to cause it. I think we are prone to more issues because of inflammation around our joints. So this affects other parts of our body. I think you should definitely tell your rheumatologist about this issue. Your GP doesn't know everything about RA.
You are not crazy, RA does not discriminate, your muscles and tendons will suffer too!
Yes , for sure! It will effect tendons and ligaments
I was told I have connectivwe tissue disorder, and I diffently have tendon pain in my elbows!
