What Are Your Food Choices During The Holidays?
For many years before RA I had allergy to cane sugar. Now it seems like any sugar makes the joints achy. Plus, raw veggies get my digestion since I started on treatment. Any suggestions for treats that might not bother the stomach or the joints?
I’ve been using monk fruit sweetener instead of sugar because it’s supposedly not inflammatory like sugar, Splenda, equal…I’ve been trying to follow anti inflammatory diet. Mostly avoiding wheat, flour sugar, unhealthy oils/fried food. Artificial sweeteners except stevia and monk fruit sweetener. Not sure it’s helping after 2 weeks. l weigh 118 lbs now..
less than I’ve weights in several yeas after losing 6 lbs…I feel like I’m eating “clean.” I have no idea if this will help. But I figure it won’t hurt!
7/2023 Update: recent studies have shown adverse effects from monk fruit sweetener so I've stopped using it. It seems like nothing is safe. I think maple syrup and organic honey are what's thought to be safest. 🥴
When I need/want a sweetener, I use "real" Maple Syrup. I don't find that I taste the maple when added to a recipe, but do get the sweetness needed😊
I think it's probably the healthiest choice. I was using monk fruit sweetener until recent studies showed adverse effects.🥴
I eat simple to digest like potatoes, carrots, squash and chicken. I have not been able to eat Kale, or chard. Last time I ate coleslaw,it bothered me ,too with bad lower stomach cramps that lasted for days so trouble , too, at times with raw or high fiber take care and be careful with food that bother you love eli
My family does Gumbo for Christmas, and I'm unsure what I will replace it with as seafood and pork sausage (red meat) aren't for me. They make me flare horribly.
