Has Anyone Here Been Diagnosed With A “Lupus Like Syndrome”?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Gastonia, NC

My blood work does not come back positive for Lupus. My rheumatologist says I have many symptoms of Lupus though not the butterfly rash. I also believe I may have Sjogrens, extremely dry eyes, mouth & nose. If you folks have any info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I was diagnosed with lupus in the 90s. Went into remission for 20 years. No symptoms and negative ANA. Recently I was diagnosed with RA. Positive ANA again and other new symptoms. Autoimmune diseases sometimes overlap and are difficult to differentiate the diagnosis. Lupus symptoms are fatigue, inflammation, headache , rash, sun sensitivity, unexplained fever , dry eyes, Raynauds and kidney problems. I never had kidney problems or butterfly rash. I did have rash on legs. You don’t have to suffer all to be diagnosed with lupus.

I've been diagnosed and treated for several years for both RA and Sjogren's. Last week my rheumatologist suggested changing my injectable (Enbrel) to Benlysta. It's really recommended for Lupus, and when I questioned it she said "You have most of the symptoms for Lupus, so let's try it." I agree with Elyse, so many autoimmune diseases overlap, it's hard to prove which one you have.
I hope you're already on medication for RA and/or Sjogren's. Take care
