My eye doctor didn't like me taking it either said I'd been on it too long, told the doc this and he agreed. I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms, and I had been on that for many years. I've often thought, did it do me any good at all,!!

Me too but also have sulfsalzine into the mix. No real side effects. Just hate to be on so many meds when I never took more than an occasional Advil my whole life!

I am on same protocol...1 plaquenil twice daily, & methotrexate tabs once a week (10). I also take 4 prescription folic acid tabs. You can get the same from an OTC folic acid, but you have to take about 12 of them...😮 Been on this mix for about two years...

I was on Plaquenil for years, not sure how helpful it was. However, there are some eye risks involved and my eye doctor preferred that I not continue as there is a lifetime maximum amount that one should have. I think it is called a Bull's eye deformity that can occur but it is rare.

I take plaquenil 2xs a day 200mg plus meloxicam for about a yr..Was status quo until recently. Now Dr wants to put me on embrel or Humira. Not sure what I will do.
