What Advice Would You Give To A Newbie.
WHat advice would you give to someone who is newly diagnosed with ra/rd. My advice would be don't give up working until you really have to. I think i gave up too early on advice from advisor.
I would also stress the importance of listening to your body. Most importantly, know that no one's disease is the same. I have a hard time remembering that. Some people go without medications, I can't. Some people can continue to work, that doesn't mean they're strong and I'm weak or lazy. Staying in tune with our bodies and understanding our limitations is pertinent to coming to terms with this new reality.
I would say listen to your body , if you need to rest then rest , don't listen to anyone who tells you ," you look fine , why do you need to rest ", no one knows your body better than you .
Remember that it is ok to cry and get mad sometimes...releases bad energy!! Also you are not alone!! Nothing is silly, ask the questions!! Research until you are comfortable! Find a Rheumatologist you can partner with...very important - this is your life! Don't be afraid of aggressive treatment and biologics. Most importantly...get out socially ☺
Please don't forget to book your blood tests and initially when I was floundering a wee bit for understanding my rheumatology nurse was amazing on the end of a phone, Pragmatic but not dogmatic x
Make your own informed decisions. Don't let friends and family convince you what's best for you. I did that. I let other's convince me not to take any meds and spent a miserable year before I made my own decision.
How Much Folic Acid Should You Take When On Methotrexate
