How Much Does Fatigue Really Play Into A Bad Flare Or The After Math Of One? I Just Had A Nurse Tell Me That Flairs Can Last 4 To 6 Weeks

That is from the minute you start to feel icky till you are totally back to your "normal " it feel like everyone has a different answer. I also wonder if all the stress lately is prolonging it? I'm so so tired..😔

Fatigue plays a significant role in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) flares and their aftermath. It can be one of the first signs of a flare and may linger even after other symptoms improve. Flares can last anywhere from days to weeks or even months, depending on the individual and factors like stress, which can indeed prolong symptoms. Managing stress, practicing self-care, and consulting your rheumatologist can help reduce the impact. Rest when needed—your body is asking for it!

Good evening Deb! For me .. my flares last different amounts of time (sometimes a few weeks), but fatigue is always a huge sign for me of what is coming. I can't get enough rest, and everything will start to exhaust me. Stress is my number one culprit, and it has been quite high lately. I do believe stress can both aggrevate and prolong a flare. The fatigue for me is also usually the last to get better. Pain/swelling can decrease, but fatigue ... I have adjusted most of my diet and other things, which have helped some. Whatever you can do to reduce stress would benefit your RA. I don't know if that means fitting in a walk, or a hobby... just something you can enjoy for a short time that also will give you some reduction of symptoms. I'm so sorry your flare has been so bad. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My Flares are also last days and weeks on end, and I too have had to rely on prednisone to push through. I can certainly attest to stress being part of initiating a flare. I too have exhaustion and low grade fever & body aches daily- it starts during the late afternoon like clockwork.
Hoping the new round of prednisone breaks the cycle. Take care Deb- you are strong and resilient- we all have to be. You will come out on the other side. Hang in there
