Has Anyone Had Trouble With Their Blood Due To Methotrexate? If So What Did You Switch To?
Methotrexate can cause blood-related side effects, such as decreased white blood cells, anemia, or low platelets, which may increase infection risk, fatigue, or abnormal bleeding. If these issues occur, doctors may switch patients to other DMARDs like leflunomide, sulfasalazine, or biologics. Always consult your doctor Show Full Answer
After being on both a methotrexate injection and a biologic injection every week for the past 8 years, my white blood count was so low, they took me off it. It's been 2 months now ith just the biologic and I have been doing OK with just the actemra. Blood count is back up and I was able to fight through a bad cold. Thank goodness. I am happy to just have the 1 injection now. Some minor flairs which I found at Christmas was all the sugar and gluten. 😬. I find diet and rest is key for me.
