I’d Like To Hear Your Thoughts On Skin Sensitivity And RA? Looking To See If Others Have This Struggle Or Battle With Their Skin.
Some seasons are better than others. It doesn’t matter what weight size I am. It does matter what material the clothes are made from. It has to be very soft and clothes need to be X-Large.
Having RA Hypothyroid, Fibromyalgia, and Granuloma annulare, is more than enough to make me go insane..I experience burning and itchy rash almost every 2-3 weeks!!! The creams prescribed from Dermatologists, never worked, and when my Dad passed away almost 2 yrs ago, I developed perioral dermatitis, after recovering from covid the 3rd time around.....I used the cream and took doxocillin, but these didn't help, so I decided to try something different, which sounds kind of crazy!! I boiled water and made hot tea with 2-3 turmeric teabags.I let it steep for 2 minutes, then added ice cubs until it was tepid. Then I poured the tea in a pitcher and I washed my face with it twice daily and the dermatitis cleared up within 4 days!! I was really amazed, that the burning itchy skin went away...
Now when my granuloma flares up I do the same thing before I shower and it helps turn down some of the inflammation too!! I hope this helps! Have a nice night everyone...
Since I have been on a biologic for RA, a burning rash between a few fingers that I haven't had in 50 years is back with a venegance. I've had to remove all my gold rings I've worn for decades. If I don't this rash gets angrier, blisters and oozes. Very attractive. I did have terrible eczema everywhere as a small child which eventually limited itself to my hands, then disappeared until now.
I also am developing fungal infections on my skin I've never, ever had before until biologics entered my life. I have no doubts that autoimmune conditions and the drugs that treat them provoke skin problems.
Its not important. Its also not that funny. But to give my skin a break..i take a shower every other day or every third day. Especially in winter. It helps me.
Painful and itchy rash on neck and scalp could be psoriasis or eczema. Psoriatic arthritis can sometimes be alongside RA. Show your specialist any skin issues.
And ask about any supplements before taking them with your meds bc they might interfere with them.
T-sal may help calm your scalp. It kinda smells like coal tar but the scent doesn't linger or stay. Oils won't help your scalp but your lower hair could benefit from certain oils. Don't scratch your dry scalp or skin, be kind to it. As we age, dry skin happens bc our skin thins. Oil and sweat glands don't operate as well. Our immune system can affect those too, causing inflammation, blockages or clogging. I was told to use baby wash and a vinegar/water rinse. But you can research natural remedies and find some helpful things on-line.
My heart goes out to you all. RA certainly does bring so many issues into our lives. I have also had lots of skin issues. I find I am sensitive to so many products now . The itching just gets awful so I try to be very careful with what I use on my skin. I really agree with not showering daily- it has helped my skin. I now make some of my skin care as the really good products are eye wateringly expensive and I seem to be increasingly sensitive to any preservatives in the commercial products. So small batches work for me . I keep it simple in terms of ingredients and I have enjoyed the learning. I love the publication Willow and Sage magazine. I have been lucky to find it in the Uk as it is an USA publication by Stampington & Co.
I hope you can all enjoy the upcoming holiday season. Take care
Helen
