Anyone Have Issues With Bladder Control

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Fall River, MA

Ever since my diagnosis and start of the meds for my RA I sometimes have an issue with holding my bladder. Literally I don't feel like I have to go then whammo I can't make it to the bathroom. I originally thought it might be the gabapentin at night but I cut it down to as needed, and still have the same issue. Just wondering if it's an RA thing or from my hysterectomy a few years ago.

Yes. I have intermittent bladder incontinence , and as you said it’s sudden and large volume of urine. It’s been going on since May and I plan to see a urologist. There is condition called interstitial cystitis associated w RA.

I had a hysterectomy years ago and I also delivered a big baby. So that may have caused issues with my bladder sometimes acting up for no reason. Or, it could also be related to my fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis being a pain in the butt. Menopause can sometimes cause problems with your bladder acting up too,and yes that's what I'm going through too. It could be a lot of issues that could cause your bladder to start leaking. I could be fine for months than whamo my bladder starts leaking for no reason. Talk to your doctor to find out what could be the problem.

I’m 53- hello middle age 🤗!
If it continues seeing a urologist could help.
