I was started on prednisone for 20 days right after diagnosis, then on methotrexate(20mg per week) after that which I am still on after nearly 2 years. I have heard it is important to start medication as soon as possible. At my next appt in August I may ask about reducing the methotrexate dosage since things are going fairly well.

Wow. I'm surprised you weren't started on medication. Very strange. Hopefully that will change in August. Can you call your rheumatologist and ask about medication?

LoriKT - yes I have been seeing a rheumatologist for awhile ever since I first had issues, when it was just my wrists and I had extreme low vitamin D. My next appointment is August 6.
