For a couple of weeks now, if I sew or type my index and middle fingers make a sharp left turn and my ring finger freezes. It isn't very comfortable to type that way.

Hand spasms can be a symptom of various conditions, including neuromuscular disorders. If you are experiencing hand spasms that lead to deformities, it is important to consult with a healthcare professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan.

For managing hand spasms and deformities, here are some general suggestions based on the context provided:

- Hand Exercises: Regular hand exercises can help prevent and manage finger deformities, strengthen grip and joints, and stretch surrounding muscles. These exercises can be done at home for a few minutes every day.
- Warm Water Therapy: Performing stretches in a sink of warm water can help reduce pain and improve flexibility.
- Splints and Orthoses: Using splints, such as resting hand splints, wrist supports, and finger splints, can decrease pain, swelling, and deformity. They can also improve function and slow the progression of deformity.
- Consulting Therapists: A physical or occupational therapist can help determine safe and effective hand therapy exercises tailored to your condition.

Always follow the advice of your healthcare team and therapists to manage your symptoms effectively.

You might consider being referred to a Hand Specialist by your rheumatologist. They will be able to address your issues more accurately. My husband and I both see one. He had thumb wrist replacement surgery.

My thumb knuckles are the worst and mostly on the right hand. I also have a nodule coming up as well, on that same wrist, behind the thumb.
