Hello! It's great to hear from someone in Bristol. Regarding the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis, it can vary significantly from person to person. Some individuals are diagnosed relatively quickly if their symptoms are pronounced and they seek medical attention promptly. For others, it might take longer due to less specific symptoms or initial misdiagnosis.

For instance, one person mentioned in the context was diagnosed with seropositive rheumatoid arthritis after a period of advocating for themselves and requesting the proper exams. They suspected something was wrong due to persistent pain, which was initially overlooked by healthcare professionals who attributed it to job-related stress or lack of exercise.

It's crucial to consult with a healthcare provider if you suspect you might have rheumatoid arthritis or if you're experiencing unexplained joint pain and fatigue. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to managing the symptoms effectively.

I am from Northern Ireland but I spent a year being tested at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath. If you can, make a private appointment with Prof Raj Sengupta. He's the best rheumatologist in the world ever (and I have had 9 of them).

Thanks so much for your reply Judy, I am finding it hugely difficult to even be taken seriously as I don’t have any markers either but pain and swelling is persistent.
After privately seeing a rumathologist he suggested Psoriatic arthritis however the NHS rumathologist disagrees, so no answers as yet, onward and upward.
I have widespread OA, the swelling seems different in my joints. Thanks so much for sharing Anna.

It took quite a time to get diagnosed! I had all the signs except the markers. He tried Methotrexate and helped at first but after a year all the pain and swelling he diagnosed me with seronegative. More Drs are diagnosing seronegative. That was a lot of years and lots of med changes. Good luck to you as you walk through the process. Judy
