I Have Been On Many RA Meds. Had To Stop, To Many Bad Side Effects. Has Anyone, Done Diet & Supplements That Have Worked? Thanks
Diet will help a lot !
I have taken pre natal vitamins in the past to help with nail, skin and hair issues.
Natural remedies will not be able to treat RA. There are a vast amounts of peer review evidenced based research to confirm this. No natural vitamins will put you in remission period! The longer you stay off of treatments the more inflammation from the autoimmune disease affects your other organs and eventually they shut down. Find one with the least amount of side effects and stick to the plan no matter what. Whether it is a tumor necrosis factor medication or Janus kinase inhibitor or methotrexate we are only able to use these types of treatments to sustain the out of control inflammation!! I do understand side effects are difficult to get through but you have to keep taking them and talk to your rheumatologist about options. Not here! Why? Because there are some patients on here who do not take any RA medications and will try to convince you that the natural remedies are able to control what is the cascade inflammatory response lots of factors involved chemicals that are not controlled by any other way but RA medical treatments. Those people go through excruciating pain until they realize they do have to take the treatments #1!
Chris V, you might look into 'Food for Life' cookbook by Najmieh Batmanglij it's full of ancient and modern Persian/Mediterranean recipees.
Full color photos with art, poetry, lore, and delicious well written recipees. The spices most frequently used include spices such as turmeric, cinnamon, rose petals, nutmeg, cardamom and saffron. My mom said her parents treated earache with saffron tea.
Some countries don't seem to be as plagued by inflammation and auto-immune diseases as western euro and Americans are. I would like to know what genetics, environment etc might influence this. I do know that their diets have very few preservatives and they rarely use canned or frozen goods. They also don't eat processed foods. Use of Ag chemicals and any pesticides are limited by their governments. RA has been linked with allergies.
I pray for an easy cure or solution for autoimmune diseases. Until then, we must be reliant on the most knowledgable in the field of Immunology and Rheumatology.
I also had to take a break from my therapy bc of side effects. My doctor thought a rest was a good idea also. 1 month later swelling stiffness pain and lassitude ratcheted up so I began again to get it under control. My RA is moderate to severe but constant. Your symptoms and specialist will tell you what is right and safe for you.

At 80 I've had numerous surgeries including 5 back and 2 neck (last back surgery was Nov 2023) and other medical issues. Getting older and dealing with RA/Fibromyalgia for 20 years, I found a combination of oxychodone-acetaminophen, Rinvouq, hydroxychloroquin, guifenisen and turmeric work for me. When having a really bad flare-up I add a Cbd gummy.. You have to try different combinations to see what works for you.
Also no matter how much you hurt you have to exercise every day. I combine stationary bike with yoga. Plus I do a few easy exercises in the shower.
I'd start with guifenisen and turmeric first. Creams with hemp, MSM and arnica help me. HempRelieve works better than any I've tried. It's become my nightly body lotion. I get it at Amazon.com. Hope this helps.
