THAT is ODD! Hubby started out on Cimzia since he ALSO has a mild/moderate case of Psoriasis and has a "touch" pf Psoriatic Arthritis. Everything seemed fine UNTIL he had blood work and it showed that he had ANTIbodies to Cimzia over 38,500 a year in. Was switched to Methotrexate after that (last August). Has blood work again in April. I will ask his RA doctor on Monday about BOTH together (Cimzia AND MTX). Be well. I would call the RA doctor and tell him you are NOT feeling well. The sooner, the better. This is what I found on Google:"RA, your doctor may prescribe Cimzia together with methotrexate, if needed. psoriatic arthritis, Cimzia is usually prescribed alone. Using it together with methotrexate is typically avoided. But if you have severe psoriatic arthritis, your doctor may consider prescribing Cimzia together with methotrexate.

It seems you're interested in learning more about Cimzia (Certolizumab Pegol) and Methotrexate, both of which are treatments for rheumatoid arthritis.

**Cimzia (Certolizumab Pegol):**
- **Type:** Biologic DMARD.
- **How it Works:** Inhibits tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), a chemical messenger involved in autoimmune attacks.
- **Administration:** Subcutaneous injection once every two to four weeks.
- **Common Side Effects:** Upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, rash.
- **Serious Side Effects:** Severe infections, increased risk for lymphoma and other cancers, heart failure, severe allergic reactions, hepatitis B virus reactivation, nerve damage, low blood cell counts, lupus-like syndrome.

**Methotrexate:**
- **Type:** Immunomodulator, DMARD, or SAARD.
- **How it Works:** Believed to work by blocking the production of lymphocytes that can attack the joints.
- **Administration:** Oral solution or subcutaneous injection.
- **Use:** For polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and adults with rheumatoid arthritis who are intolerant of or have had an inadequate response to first-line therapy. It can reduce joint pain and swelling and allow for a reduction in the dosage of other drugs, such as prednisone.
- **Brand Names:** Otrexup, Rasuvo, Reditrex, Rheumatrex, Trexall.

Both treatments have their unique mechanisms of action and side effects. It's important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the best treatment plan based on individual health needs and medical history.
