What To Ask At First Appointment?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
McKinney, TX

I was diagnosed end of June. My referral was sent to a practice that neglected to contact me. Luckily, I can self-refer and found a different doctor in the area, but can't get in until September. I'm making a list of what to ask and wrapping my head around all this. Looking for any input from the community. What's the thing you wished you had asked at the beginning?

Go to the Dr list for the particular kind of doctor. Look at their reviews and decide which one is taking new patients. Call and see if you can get in.

What stretches to do and foods to eat and maybe referral to nutritionist. They say root vegetables best for RA. I'm also trying to stay away from flour and sugar which causes inflammation and thus pain. Welcome to the group. We all help each other here ♥️

The one question I ask are about your medications. They never told me about the effects on my body when I took prednisone. Aske about your blood work. What does it mean, and about pain. You need to be your own advocate. Educate yourself on the topic of RA.
You can always aske us questions to get more information. I wish the best and I will pray 🙏 🙏 for you as I do for everyone
GOD BLESS YOU
