Why Do I Bruise So Easily And It Turn Purple?
I thought the purple bruises were caused by methotrexate; but now I have been off the medication for nearly 6 months now and I am still getting them! I’m afraid to do anything because they appear at the slightest mishaps. My 5 year old grandson came for a visit and now I have several of them. Please tell me what I can do to stop them. I take vitamin K and use arnica gel when they appear. 😩
I agree maybe speaking with your PCP or your specialist maybe running some labs check on your
blood levels. Could be from other meds , over counter meds , sometimes the blood vessels can
become broken and bruise up.
Most bruises are black, blue or
purple usually heal on their on.
Don’t take any chances check
it out and ask questions it’s
Your body.
Hope this helps.

My PCP told me its from prednisone (for RA) and the 81mg aspirin which I take for APS
Hi Makki,
You have gotten some good advice here, ruling out issues such as anemia, is important. Sometime taking OTC pain relief such as asprin can contribute to this, also as we get older our skin gets thinner and we bruise more easily. We have a fur baby that gives us bruises everything she is giving love by bumping us with her nose....they can be anywhere. I use Arnicare Gel to help heal them as soon as I notice them. Sometimes after a blood draw I will get bruised and they can turn purple, so you are not alone.
I hope this helps.
Please let us know what your Rheumatologist finds.
Hello Maki2004,
I would suggest talking to your rheumy or PCP. Maybe they can order a CBC lab to measure your platelets. Also, are you taking any other biologic or anti- rheumatic medications?
I get bruises all of the time. Sometimes they hurt, but most of the time they don't and I am not sure where they came from. They just show up. I think it's just the way I am.
