I was diagnosed at age 5. But it took so long to get a diagnosis, it had already attacked my eyes.
I didn't get any treatment for RA until i was 54!!!!!

I had a cornea transplant, which set off the worst flare up I've ever experienced.
Got referred back to a new rheumatologist, who is working in conjuction with my 2 eye specialists.
I'm currently on methotrexate injection. 25mg
Imraldi biologic injection.40mg
Mycofenelate mofetil, 1250mg
Prednisolone 50mg.
Folic Acid
Vitamin D
Amitriptyline.
Cocodamol
Since this flare up started in January 2022, I now have type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, my jaw keeps dislocating, and my reflux has grown with a vengeance,,,??,,all caused by the flare up and medication. I think we've found the best combination of meds, as my bad days are very slowly getting less.
However, I cant come off the steroids yet, as the inflammation in my eye is too severe. I only have the 1 eye, due to losing the other after an aggressive form of glaucoma lost me my sight in 8 days. I was pregnant at the time. If I had another eye, they'd start reducing the steroids, but they can't risk it at the moment, as my cornea graft has started failing. If they can't give me another graft, I'll go blind. But if they try and operate with the inflammation still present, I'll go blind anyway. So I'm praying that they can sort this inflammation out.....🙏🤞
Sorry for the long reply, I get carried away........

Hi, I have been on Humira for about a year and hydroxychloroquine, my doctor feels it is not helping a lot.
I like it because I have no bad side effects. For me Enbrel was the best, was on it about 8 years, no side effects, helped a lot, was losing its effect.
Now wants me to try. Cimzia or Simpini, not sure about there side effects.
But don’t be afraid of Humira, the sure click pen doesn’t hurt, I take it every 2 weeks.

Hi, right now I’m on hydroxychloroquin but have been on a lot of them. My doctor wants me to start Humira but I’m hesitant due to my age and the side effects, sigh.

Hi Sandra,

I have tried Plaquenil, methotrexate, leflunomide, humira. Had bad reactions to these medications. The Rituxan infusions have worked out so far. I have my second set of infusions this month.

How are your medications working for you?
