Does anyone take Meloxicam? I was prescribed it the other day and I’m curious what experience people have had with it.

I was on meloxicam for years but my pain was not well controlled. I was switched to celebrex about 6 years ago. I have really severe arthritis so I have to take other medications as well and I now take cymbalta 40 mg in the morning after 6 weeks it does start to help with the pain. It's actually an antidepressant but works with nerve pain. I'm also on amitriptyline at night which helps me with night time pain and sleeping because it makes me tired and relaxed.

So sometimes one medication alone is not sufficient talk to your doctor if you're still experiencing pain and have them try something in addition to or in place of what you're taking. There are more medications out there now then when I was first diagnosed many years ago.

Best of luck

I took Meloxicam and then also Gabapentin for a while and it did not work for me. I haven’t responded well to a lot of medications. So it might be just my body.

I recently was prescribed meloxicam along with gabapentin. It’s been approximately a month since I started both. I feel the gabapentin is causing me muscle weakness and joint pain and I’m still on the fence about the meloxicam. At first I didn’t think it did a whole lot for me. I am almost off the gabapentin now and waiting to see if the muscle pain disappears. I have continued the meloxicam and am finding it is working better than I originally thought. It does seem to take the edge off of the pain. I still sometimes have to take Tylenol Arthritis in addition if it’s really bad. The Dr said it is a drug that can be taken on an as needed basis which is great if I am having a good day. I have had no other side affects from it. Hope this helps a little.
