Sero Positive RA To Sero Negative RA?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Is it possible to go from Seropositive RA to Sero negative RA? My records say Sero positive RA but my new rheumatologist says I’m Sero negative RA.

I have Sero Negative RA….When given that diagnosis at first, when I saw the word “negative” I thought I didn’t have RA…..Since then one of the articles on this site explains the difference but if I remember correctly, it didn’t mention whether it can switch from one diagnosis then the other….I’m sure your Rheumy can explain what going on…..Good Luck👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️❤️❤️

I was originally diagnosed as seropositive and later it was changed to seronegative. I believe it was all based on blood work that was done (RA factor and CRP) and maybe others. I have been told that seronegative it treated with the same drugs as seropositive. At least I am being treated that way. Hope this helps.

I disagree, you can be seronegative or positive on your 1st testing.
