Neuropathy

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Douglassville, PA

My rheumatologist insisted I had RA in both my feet and ankles. I was convinced it was nerve pain I was experiencing. Had a nerve conduction test and sure enough I have severe neuropathy. I am now taking Gabapentin in addition to my other meds. Has anyone else dealt with neuropathy and if so what treatment are you on and is it working?

I have had X-rays and MRIs of both feet and ankles and a nerve conduction test. Make sure you explore all testing so you know what is really going on. I refused to give up because I knew the pain I was feeling wasn’t what they were saying. Good luck.

Sorry so many of us have ankle and feet issues. My rheumatologist ordered feet x-rays last month. I'm now scheduled for an MRI of my left foot.
I've had weak ankles since I was a little kid. Not sure if that is relevant, but it makes me wonder.

If you’re taking gabapentin for neuropathy do any of you see a neurologist? I think I also need to be under the care of one so that I can better understand how to deal with it and to make sure I am doing all I can to combat it.
