Muscle Pain With RA?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
King George, VA

I am experiencing severe muscle pain in my left thigh, almost like tendonitis. I am on Remicade and sulfasalazine; I had to recently stop taking hydroxychloroquine due to thinning of my retina. I know that RA attacks muscles and ligaments. I was wondering if anyone else suffers muscular pain.

I have had issue with my left hip-trochanteric bursitis, having surgery Wednesday for it. Torn tendons that I've been told are either from repetitive movements or degeneration.
Should get xray and mri to have it checked out

Thanks for the reply. I have never been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but they go hand in hand sometimes. Yes, RA's not just bones and joints - unfortunately it's also muscles and ligaments and even internal organs. I have been lucky with most symptoms controlled by Remicade infusions over the past 13 years. This muscle thing just popped up. I have messaged my Rheumy to get his opinion.

I have had this recently as well. I thought it was my fibromyalgia acting up. I did not know that RA attacks the muscles and tendons.
