Questions To Ask
My rheumatologist is 1+ hrs out of town and I am no longer able to drive and finding transportation very difficult. I have an appointment to see a local rheumy in hopes of liking her well enough to switch. I am sero positive, undifferentiated connective tissue with psoriasis. Been under care of present rheumy for about 5 years. Presently on 5 prednisone, 200 plaquenil and humira biosimilar

All your questions can give you insights. Frequency of visits may shift depending on how stable the RA is.
Ask the new doctor what they would prescribe. also ask how the medications work.
Prednisone can help with flares but can decrease bone strength if used long term.
Ask if they also treat osteoporosis. It can occur with RA. Do they order bone scans?
I had to change RA doctors too. The new doctor about flipped out when she found out I had been on steroids for 5 months. She changed everything around. Good luck with your doctor change!!
Changing Rheumys usually means they change your meds as they all treat differently I have found. I have tried prednisone and loved it. Felt like I was 10yrs younger but knew it was just masking what was going on which can lead to overdoing things and causing more damage. It is great for flares though and short term .
Thank you everyone for your kindness in replying. I saw the new rheumy and she was very nice and ok with the meds I was on. I told her my quality of life was more important to me than quantity and that I wanted to stay on 5 mg of prednisone as my joints are stable(don’t upset the apple cart ;), my osteoporosis has been stable and I understood the risks associated with the drug.
She would see me every 4 months. I have to call the iffice and see how often she would do blood work as this is important to me.
I was on Humira and low dose of methotrexate for 15-18 yrs. Maybe try and see if your can have your meds chg'd
