My brother has been on methotrexate from the onset of his RA, so 6 years now. No issues except the weight loss/loss of appetite. My dad's been on methotrexate for over 10 years. Same results as my brother. When I got the seronegative RA our family line has I went with methotrexate and figured that would be it. Sadly, liver issues, so I was switched to Humira. I loved the methotrexate. No side effects except weight loss. I was chunky and happy to shed the 25 lbs. Humira worked for about a year, but now it's not as effective. I have more flares and limping and toes/feet problems. I'm talking to my rheumatologist in April about trying something else. Back taking Prednisone, eat like a hog, chunky again. Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences with different medications, especially combinations. We're all different, so food, exercise type, supplements, and medications are all one big experiment.
