Ten years ago I broke out in rash that consisted of itchy, raised bumps. I went to a dermatologist who did a biopsy.
Results showed it was an additional auto-immune disease called lichen planus. Apparently quite common among people with RA. Instead of the joints, the immune system attacks the skin. Flare-ups seem to follow cuts. I've only had it 3 times, and easily stopped it with prescription Triamcinolone Acetonide cream. OTC hydrocortizone works, although not as fast.

I'm sorry Mary. There are other injectables such as Enbrel for RA. There are many medications to try, have a discussion with your Rheumatologist about it. At first the medications are trial and error, you and your doctor need to figure out which medication is right for you.

Hi Mary,

I did have red itchy blotches on my legs when I was on Humira. Then I developed what looked like bug bites, also very itchy. My Rheumatologist stated it was an allergic reaction. After 3 injections, I also felt my RA was improving. When the 2 weeks was coming to an end, I noticed I had more pain. I am now on Rituxan infusions. I receive my 2nd dose on Tuesday.

Hope you find a medication that works for you.

I have been on Humira injections for exactly 2 years and have just started to get red blotches on my legs. Will show my rheumatologist next time I go.
