Unbearable Itching Like A Bee Sting

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone have episodes of random unbearable itching that feels like a million bee stings or fire ants? It’s not around my joints and it’s random places, like my arm, leg, chest, neck or belly. I have no rash and have eliminated anything with fragrance or dyes from my laundry and lotions. I use CeraVe lotion for itchy skin all over after my shower every morning. The itching is so bad I will scratch until I bruise myself. It will wake me from a dead sleep. The only thing I’ve found to get any… read more

Itching is what got me to my diagnosis of RA. I would break out on read rashes all over my body. I would itch like crazy for no reason without any relief. After I saw my second allergist and tons of testing she sent me to a rheumatologist and I was tested for RA and was seropositive.

Allegra helps with itching and rashes as well as Zyrtec. I take both daily.

Sarna lotion for sensitive skin works wonders but you have to make sure it is the sensitive skin version the regular one caused more burning and pain than it helped. Triacimalone cream is also helpful.

The last couple of weeks the itching has gotten much worse but it is the start of allergy season.

If it helps anyone my allergist found that I have high levels of histamine in my blood and she thinks that my body is more sensitive due to the autoimmune RA.

I’d check with your general doctor. You probably are allergic to your medication. I had itching which was very annoying! I visited a dermatologist and it did help as long as I followed the instructions. It’s better, but some days it comes back.

I have scratches all over . The way I scratch myself, I start bleeding. I thought it was aging skin. 😳

I had the itching before the medication. It’s a symptom of auto immune issues.
