New Medicine For Me
Has anyone been on Xeljanz my next drug to try. It is a pill so I am happy about that.
I did not fare well on that med. After 2 mos I got uti. Then yeast. Then a girlie infection. And it never stopped. Sometimes I had 3 infections going at once for an entire year after stopping xeljanz. I was so humiliated by the obgen and nurses bc they knew nothing of auto immune disorder or xeljanz. Yet they made me feel dirty as if I didn't know good hygiene or had a trashy personal life. Neither did the pharmacist know anything abt xeljanz. The makers called me and monitored me every week until I got an infection then they stopped all communication bc I guess my results weren't good for research purposes? Take heed of UTI, girlie bits and any rise in temperature. You may be one that tolerates it well and benefit from it. My RA did go into a a few months remission. The side effects were too costly to me. But we are all different and it's worth a try. Do not be frightened by what I wrote. In no way am I slamming a potential remedy for others. Just my personal experience. Iam taking Actemra again. 1st time, after 2 mos also, had a bad rise in liver enzymes, which caused a blocked bile duct from swelling. But I'm trying a half dose of actemra at present and we are monitoring my labs. You see, damage RA can be bad and we have to try different things and maybe different doses from labeled suggestions, under doctors care, we all have worries at times but keep an eye on things and notify your doc if you have real concerns. Your doc knows what to look for and if you need to back off or increase. I wish you luck. And I know another lady that took xeljanz and did well! We all will not have the same results or reactions taking these meds. If so- there would only be one med to take.
Hi, I've never been on Xeljanz. I was on Enbrel, working great when all of a sudden, my ins wldn't cover it! My Dr switched me to Cimzia, I was nervous, but ... it's working just as good, if not better!! I get 2 injections, in my stomach, once every 4 weeks. I have to go to his office, but ... my new ins covers every penny now!!! Hope you have good luck with whatever you decide. Let us know...? Enjoy your night...💕

I have been on xeljanz for four years with no side effects. But I am not one to get infections. I don't get colds at all. It is not stopping my disease though. My spine is worsening as is my right hip. I was hoping to have one natural joint left. oh well.
Any infection will be pronounced because ALL of the classes of medication used to treat RA lowers the abnormal immunity through whatever mechanism it works. Xeljanz does not cause urinary tract infections. We have to be very careful NOT to get an infection and stay away from sick people because of our inability fight off the infection.
Xeljanz has not caused any problems. The main concern is heart and it is best to get to a healthy weight and be active also I am on a lowest dose of Crestor to protect my heart. I live north of Dallas and I have exceptional physicians caring for me. I had all of my vaccines except shingles I’ll wait for that. Insurance…
Like I have said many times listen to the people on here who are nurses they will help the best.
