Traveling with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can be challenging, but with proper planning, it can be manageable. Here are some tips based on the knowledge base:

- Mobility Issues: Long plane or car rides can cause flare-ups. Get up frequently during flights and consider wearing compression socks.
- Special Assistance: Request special assistance at airports, such as an assisted wheelchair or priority boarding.
- Rest: Plan to rest the day you arrive and give yourself extra time before and after your trip to pack and recover.
- Medication: Ensure you have all your medications and understand any travel restrictions.

Traveling to Alaska, with its unique terrain and potential for long travel times, may require additional planning, but it is possible with these considerations.

You can travel!! If your disease is under control, the sky's the limit. If you're taking a biologic the provider can give you a special bag to carry it. I've lived 36 years with RA, have lived in Australia and Thailand and travelled extensively. Don't let this hold you back! Enjoy Alaska!
