Tomatoes are considered a nightshade vegetable. Look it up. All nightshades are inflammatory. Nightshade foods contain solanine, a chemical which some people believe may aggravate arthritis pain or inflammation.

I've become almost allergic to tomato over the past few years and I love them. Whether cooked or not, they immediately give me mouth sores and stomach pain so no more tomatoes. Now I have olive oil and garlic instead of sauce.
