3rd COVID Vaccine (Pfizer) While Withdrawing From Prednisone?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Hi friends. Okay, so my rheum is suggesting that I get my 3rd COVID vaccine (Pfizer) ASAP (appointment w/her yesterday) but today I began having withdrawal symptoms after stopping prednisone (1 mg/day for the past 2 months) 4 days ago. So I'm wondering if anyone here has been in my shoes, and if so, what was your experience combining the side effects of prednisone withdrawal with the side-effects of the 3rd COVID vaccine?

P.S. Am also on Humira and methotrexate. I'll need to hold on my methoread more

It sounds frustrating and I understand! I’m no expert but after many years of pain and feeling unheard I spoke to my primary care doctor and he reminded me that I can get second opinions and gave me a few referrals. Maybe you could try the same. Please let us know how things go!😻

My rheumatologist told me to miss my Methotrexate for 2 weeks after the injection not 1.I haven't seen my rheumatologist since 2019 and the last person I saw was my surgeon about my knee tumour in July, and I haven't been told that I have to have the 3rd jab by him. Now Stanmore is requesting another MRI. I am really getting fed up with this.

Thank you. I'll see what I can come up with and then update down the road.

My side effects from the third shot were much less than the side effects from the second one.

I was told to pause my Methotrexate for 2 weeks so my immune system could learn the antibody better after receiving Pfizer. So I got my first dose in March and my second on April fools day. On August 14th I got my 3rd Pfizer, but this time I took it upon myself to pause my Humira and Methotrexate for 3 weeks (I could start to feel some pain at the end of the 3rd week). On September 18th I went to Labcorp and got an antibody test and my results were off the charts.

Labcorp Dashboard...
"SARS-CoV-2 Semi-Quant Total Ab: >2500.0 (Reference Range: Negative<0.8U/mL)
Antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein receptor binding
domain (RBD) were detected. It is yet undetermined what level of
antibody to SARS-CoV-2 spike protein correlates to immunity against
developing symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 disease. Studies are underway to
measure the quantitative levels of specific SARS-CoV-2 antibodies
following vaccination. Such studies will provide valuable insights
into the correlation between protection from vaccination and
antibody levels.

SARS-CoV-2 Spike Ab Interp: Positive"

I want to get tested again before Christmas.

I take generic Claritin for allergies, like today when I could not stop sneezing for some reason.
