Anyone Have Good Results With Enbrel?

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭
Douglas, MA

I have been on Enbrel almost 3 weeks and I do not feel any different. I don’t have any negative side effects either. I am also on methotrexate 10 tabs weekly. Concerned about being on 2 immunosuppressive drugs.

I was on Enbrel twice...

It was a good choice but eventually my body started to get more used to it and it gave diminishing results. Between the Enbrel prescriptions I used Humera and it was actually less effective.

I have moved onto Remocade (Infusion Therapy) because I am the only member of my family who has an income and I have no choice but to continue to push forward with more aggressive therapy.

I got sick all the time when I was on Methotrexate so I eventually moved away from it even as a supplemental. I almost never get sick now compared to almost once a month when I was still on Methotrexate.

The way Enblel worked best on my personally was using the half dose twice a week instead of the once a week. Also the prefilled needles are way better for long term use than the auto-injectors.

Just my experience...

I have been on methotrexate off and on for 11 years. I am not currently on it. I took Humira for about 2.5 years and loved it. It helped me almost immediately. Unfortunately i was not informed that the biologics can just stop working which is what happened. I started Enbrel about 3 weeks ago and had a pretty good injection site reaction about 1 week after starting. I am nervous to try it again.

Embrel can take up to 12 weeks to start working but it's one of the best on the market. Once Embrel starts working the doctor with probably reduce the methotrexate & take you off it. Good luck!

I have been on Enbrel 2 & 1/2 yrs and have gotten off my methotrexate and predisone. And I rarely have flare ups. But just like it takes RA awhile to develope it also takes it awhile for medicine to put it into remission.

I took Embrel for 15 years and it worked great for me but it did not work immediately ( it had to build up in my system). In last year I was switched to Humira & HP Acther gel (due to uveitis ) so I am not having the same positive results as Embrel. Hope this helps you.
