Hello. Sulfazalazine helped at first. But then I had a horrible flare and even after increasing the dose to 3000 mg it just isnt working anymore for me. Im waiting to start methotrexate after my bloodwork is where it needs to be.

Hi, I was taking sulfasalazine 1000mg twice daily along with hudroxychloroquine 400mg daily and methotrexate 25mg weekly but have stopped the sulfasalazine. I found it definitely helped with inflammation but the side effects i had were impossible to live with. Lucky me I always seem to get the obscure effects they never warn you about 😝

Unfortunately I couldn't ever get past the beginning dose of Sulfasalazine. Even the lowest dose made me so dizzy and nauseous that I could barely function. Everyone is different. One of the reasons I was so thankful to have a Rheumatologist's NP who listened to me and worked with me to come up with a regimen that so far works well for me.
