I have Hashimoto’s, Sjögren’s and RA Autoimmune Diseases along with Hypothyroidism! As if that weren’t enough, I have gained 60 pounds in the last year. I am 53 yrs old and have NEVER had a weight issue and when looking into why I was gaining weight so quickly, this is when I learned of being blessed with all these diagnoses!😀 I am desperately trying to figure out what diet is best to combat all of these autoimmune diseases. I understand the Paleo Diet along with gluten free foods is best for… read more

I have been doing the Keto way of life now for a while and I highly recommend it. It takes a few weeks to get adjusted, but after that you have no cravings for sugar at all! It is shocking! Even fruit won't appeal to you really. You gain lots of energy and mental clarity. I started it for my diabetes and was able to come off large doses of insulin. All of my labs are so much better. Good luck no matter which you choose.

I've focus on following the Mediterranean diet (though it is more of an eating plan than a diet). It stresses fruits/vegetables, whole grains, fish, olive oil, etc. I knew for me, it was the most doable, and I find I don't mind the changes too much. To help me, I printed out a food pyramid for this diet and put it on my refrigerator. Good luck and be patient!

I have found the Keto diet to work very effectively, it doesn't allow sugar of any kind, sugar is the great inflammatory. On my last blood work, SED rate back to normal and it was off the charts before. I have lost 40 lbs. since Nov. 2018

Hello, try The Wahls Protocol by Terry Wahls. You can buy it on Amazon, it doesn’t cost much. This is a doctor who had MS, wheelchair bound and now is riding a bike for 18 miles a day. I started in about October, but sometimes I can’t help it and eat some stuff I shouldn’t. Nevertheless, I have a great deal of energy, and I don’t even need the CBD oil for pain and sleep. I only take a Tylenol here and there when I hurt during the day because I have to work. And you have to eat a lot, but it’s stuff that makes you loose weight. It takes about 3 1/2 years to heal all the cells in your body, so I guess we have to be patient. The diet seems complicated at the begging, but after you get the hang of it, its not so bad. She has a Paleo diet, a Paleo Plus and a Keto diet enriched with lots of nutrients rich stuff. I am the Paleo plus now, I like it the best. After all, we need to eat anyway. And what is the alternative? Meds that suppress your immune system. I like my immune system, I don’t want to suppress it.LOL. Also look up Bruce Lipton The Biology of Belief.

I feel your pain I too have Hashimoto's.Sjogrens and RA.I try to eat clean. I have a protein drink in the morning fresh fruit ,yougurt and Protein power. A lights lunch of oatmeal and a banana .and than chicken with a vegetable . That keeps my weight down. It does sound boring but it works. Just get into a routine. that works for you no snacking in between. The weight should come off with a good diet portion control.I wish you the best
