Isn't Injection Bad For The Bones?
I had a close friend that told me never to get those cordizone injection cause it damages the bone. It was sad cause they had him amtutated both legs bones were very bad 😥 😢ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Everyone is different and has different diseases and reactions. Do not listen to your friend. Steroid injections can take down the inflammation. Most doctors will not give more than 3 in a relatively short period of time, because it can damage the bone but many times, all it takes is the one injection to alleviate symptoms & swelling.
I hate to say, but I seriously doubt that the amputation of your friend's legs was due to steroids - most likely something else like diabetes or an infection. I have Rheumatoid arthritis but work for an orthopedic surgeon and have for over 20 years. Never, ever saw someone need an amputation due to a steroid injection.
Rosa I get injections in my knees, my si joints and next in my back. If done right they work and r not harmful. But u can only get them so many times in a year. I think what u r referring to is long term prednisone use. That medication in high doses over long term will eat through your bones. But it does years to do that. It is not something that happens overnight.
Rosa I’m not a doctor and never pretend to be, so I can only answer the question pertaining to me and my condition. I’ve had numerous shots for my knee, both shoulders, back, wrist, hands and fingers. While not pleasant I’m sold. The benefits that I’ve had from them especially this past go around for my hands and fingers are more than worth it. I also have osteopenia regarding my bones. Let’s face it, with RA as well of others things and the pain it’s eorth it st least for me.
Good to know!
The real problem with any steroid shot and you would have to have them several years is damage to the heart.. .my Thumb told me that
