I have been on 10mg a day of prednisone since 2011, and tapering doses of 50 mg tapered down down to 10 for flare ups. I have experienced Bi Polar episodes of mania followed by depression 3 times. Reaked havoc on my life!! My Rheumy never told me that Mood Disorders are the main and most common side effect of Prednisone since it's also a hormone in addition to the antinflammatory.

It causes Bi Polar behaviors and I am getting weaned off of it permanently. It has totally destroyed my life.

I was on humerus. Tried going off prednisone. Started having severe shortness of breath. Legs and feet swelled up. My Rheumatologist took me off humerus. Everything went back to normal within a couple of days.

Am off prednisone after 2 yrs. On humera but have bad shortness of breath since quitting prednisone 2 weeks ago, going for cat scan of chest, anyone have anything like this!

I have been on prednisone for 7yrs. Keep trying to get off of it but the withdrawal is horrible!
Like you, I don't sleep much 1-2 hrs at a time. Dozy all day and clumsy and very forgetful!
Pretty sure lack of sleep will do this to a person.

Time for a real heart to heart with my Rheumatologist and GP.

Prednisone is not good for you,it may help with inflamation but has bad side effects if taking for a long period of time.
