Pain In Toes And Feet

A myRAteam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have a problem with pain in the two small toes of your feet that runs down the outside of the foot making it hard to walk? Sometimes even the pad of the foot hurts. How do you deal with it?

I tried the cbd oil and it didn’t do the job for me. I take spectrum blue from spectrum Cannabis which is 10 mg thc 15 mg cbd per ml. It is a hybrid( between indica and sativa). I usually take 1 ml in the evening after I am home for the night. You usually start slow 1/4 ml and work up until you find what works. Some people find that the cbd works but it didn’t quite do the trick in my case. I to have had a few issues with supply over the last couple of months but it should be in stock any time now. I had a little bit put aside in case it wasn’t available and also made up a few brownies using the same strain used for the oil. I did not touch marijuana at all since I tried it when was a teenager so this was quite new to me. I wish I had the information and support when this first happened I suffered unbelievably until I tried the oil and then it was like someone flicked a switch and I got my life back.

That’s where my symptoms started on the outside of my foot about half way back. I found it very difficult to walk or stand. It would take about 5 to 10 min for me to stand if I was sitting down and very painful to walk. Anti inflammatories did nothing. This started in October 2016 and went on for about 10 months along with a gi infection in February 2017. I had numerous X-rays etc. I thought I had stress fractures from doing so much walking at work. In July my stomach was acting up a bit again and then in August 2017, 10 months in my body went into full flair. I did anti inflammatories, prednisone, methotrexate, plaquenil, luflenomide etc. Only one helped a bit was prednisone but I didn’t like the side effects. Other meds made me worst drove up my liver count and wiped out my immune system. I dropped all the meds in February 2018 and went on a strict keto type diet for about 3 months. I also took probiotics and l glutamine. The other thing that I did was got a prescription for medical marijuana which helped with the pain, muscle spasms and helped me sleep. These changes made a fairly big difference but I still had quite a bit of pain. This past August I decided to try marijuana oil from a dropper other than the regular marijuana I used in my vaporizer and it was a game changer for me. Most all of the inflammation was gone in two days and I could run up and down the stairs. I still have days that I am stiff and sore but I can usually relate it to something that I shouldn’t have ate or a series of extremely physical days where I walk close to 15 Km a day etc. The other thing that I have noticed since I started using the marijuana i don’t have any more sinus trouble, allergies or trips to the chiropractor with my shoulders and back locking up. I am not following a strict diet at the moment but I do find that it helps with the pain levels.

@A myRAteam Member I have foot pain and it feels like I am walking on rocks or sharp glass most of the time. My left foot has been my worse for the last couple years and I found out last spring that I actually had a stress fracture and it was not 'simply' my RA. Since then I have another stress fracture in the same foot. My ortho said if it happens again they are going to consider it a side effect of sorts to my RA as my bone density is fantastic for my age. If your foot continues to hurt and is very sore in certain areas go see a orthopedic doctor and have them check for a stress fracture. I had to finally throw a fit and go to minor emergency before my general physician at the time thought to send me to ortho to get checked. Seems I had been walking around on a broken foot. I think those of us with RA and the pain we deal with should be looked at more closely due to our pain levels. It's just a thought and I hope you don't have a fracture.

I have found that you have to have good shoes and don't walk barefoot. Try to find something with good arch support. Say goodbye to flat shoes and flip-flops. I wear good slippers in the house.

See a doctor and get a prescription. I have been unable to get my cbd oil from the company I use so I am transferring to another one. It truly is a game changer with my pain and sleep.
