I Am Turning 65 Next Year And Have Read About The Poor Reimbursement On The Biological Drugs In Part D Of Medicare Part D. Any Suggestions?
There are patient assistance program available to sign up for if you are eligible - Medicare does not cover much of any of my meds. Etodolac costs me about $160 every 3 months with Medicare. Everyone needs to write to our representatives to ask for better Medicare benefits for all of us.
I am interested in this also. I am having success with MTX, but Humira is the next medication when this stops helping. My insurance pays 1/3 of the cost, which would still leave me with $1,500 to $2,000 a month. I am also on Medicare and have a supplemental plan. There is a card from the pharmaceutical company that I have heard about. A lot of people pay about $5 per month for it. I plan to discuss this with my rheumy on December 5, my next appointment. I'll share what I learn.
Ask the pharmacy if they can process without using your insurance. Example: I take creon daily. The monthly copay using insurance is 120.00 for me out of pocket. If I dont run it thru insurance and use the copay assistance card I pay 5.00 per month. Self pay without the coupon 2500.00 per month. Sometimes the self pay cost with coupons is better than the copay the insurance charges. And...not all pharmacies charge the same, shop around. And no the pharmacy wont tell you what the best deal is unless you ask.
I've never had a problem. Knock on wood I guess? Lol!
Thank you for the suggestion.
