Talk to your rheumy. I experienced hair loss with plaquenil but never with methotrexate. Your rheumy should be able to put you on something else. Mine did. In the meantime start taking biotin. It will help replenish the lost hair.

Hi @A myRAteam Member. I’ve been on plaquinel and don’t have the problem. Sure some comes out when I big comb my hair but that’s normal. Use a volumizing shampoo. There is danger in stopping that anti- malarial medication. The reason why it’s so good is that it slows down the RA progress and at the same time keeps the internal organs in check especially the heart. Before I started taking it, The blood vessels were all inflamed going to my heart. Now my count is below normal. Talk to your rheumatologist. I take Tylenol arthritis pills for pain and inflammation. Never without pain but I can function.

I was on plaquenil for a while, my hair fell out in clumps! I started biotin gummies. My mom also had the same issues with her medications (she has psoriatic arthritus and i have RA so we conpare notes and treatments) one word of advise....you will get hair in random places....i have started getting them on my chin, and one spot on my cheek.
