I’m Having Ankle Fusion Surgery This Month. Any Advice Re Recovery And What To Expect?
RA has destroyed the cartilage in my foot/ankle.
I’m scheduled for a “talonavicular fusion”. I know there will be no weight bearing for 3 months. I have a scooter and crutches to use. I am unable to take my Humira for 3 weeks before and at least 2 weeks post surgery. Does anyone have experience with this recovery? Suggestions?
Hi this may or may not help. But I broke my ankel in April and had surgery where they put a steal plate and screws 10 of them. I could not put weight on it for 3 months I was put in a cast for a month after that I was put on a boot did not like that. For a month I wore the boot. Then they put a brace but still had wear the boot for onther month. I see the Dr next month to see how I'm doing. You probably have to elvate you foot, I'm hopping you have someone to help you around the house 🏡. Thanks for sharing. You'll have a great evening 🌃
GOD BLESS
Had my right angle fused about 20 years ago well worth it can t remember details sorry
I have had two different fusions on the same ankle. Due to two different injuries I am very careful where I walk especially in the grass Your gait changes and along with your whole body mechanics. I'm very selective on what kind of shoes to wear that does make a difference.
Good luck with your surgery.
I had ankle fusion surgery in Jan. 2015. I really couldn't bear a lot of weight on my foot for a good year, & it took 18 months to completely heal. I have a limp, which the doctor said I wouldn't, and now I find out my ankle isn't even in the right place.
Hi Gail, I am also in the middle of scheduling the same fusion surgery in early October. Did you already have your surgery?
