Has Any One Applied For Disability Due To Thier RA
Yes, I applied in January 2017 and was awarded SS Disability in October 2017 (I was very lucky, but had lots of medical records to support it) I don't like being disabled, but so very glad it is there when I needed it. I am only 59, and I miss my previous life and all the energy I used to have..
I am now on full disability because RA had made it impossible to keep doing the job I was trained for. My case was backed up by x-rays and test results. RA is not curable and progressively dibilitating.
Getting ready to try
I worked for the state and my contract said if you were over 60., you could retire early, no disability. I was diagnosed 3 days after 60. I lasted a year. I retired 2 weeks ago from a very physical job, and a lot of stress. I haven't felt this good for 4 years. I am a very happy and about pain free. Best thing I've done for myself in a long time.
I applied and got disability due to R.A. and depression in 2009. I know a lot of people who have had to apply more than once and even get a lawyer in order to get benefits! I got it on the first try, but I think it was due to the huge medical paper trail that I submitted along with recommendations from all of my doctors. It does help to have a lot of your medical history to back up your claim.
